CCSJ Events
Our 2019 MLK Jr Day Event has been successfully completed. Our theme this year was “Kids in Action”. Each child attending received a sticker identifying that child as a “Kid in Action.” The program featured the Cheat Lake Elementary School Choir, Mylan Park Elementary School Choir, the Morgantown Children’s Choir, music by Al Anderson and Friends, and a story read by Jeremy Thomas. There were also five essays by students from local schools, written as part of the NAACP essay contest. Mayor Bill Kawecki welcomed everyone on behalf of the City of Morgantown. We collected boxes of donations for the Scotts Run Backpack Program to support students at area schools who need food assistance over the weekend. The program and pictures are here, with past those from past events here.
We co-sponsored this event with Main Street Morgantown. Thanks to the City of Morgantown and Rachel Wood of Virtus Wealth Solutions for their financial support, as well to the staff of the Metropolitan Theater for the great assistance in making this successful and rewarding event.
